CT Yankees lend a helping hand

As part of being a community club the CT Yankees members are always willing to help out with great projects. Recently we were approached to help construct a new Energy and Science Park at All Saints Catholic in Norwalk and we are calling for volunteers to cover shifts from Monday August 1st – Friday Augst 5th

The ASCS Science and Energy Park (“e3”) is an innovative, hands-on, interactive outdoor science playground, designed to allow students to experience and experiment with physical science and energy concepts on a daily basis. This 8,000 square foot outdoor facility will allow children to learn as they play by incorporating custom designed elements such as simple machines (gears, levers, pulleys) and energy-generating play equipment.

Clean, renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines will be located in the Park and in areas adjacent to the Park. Meters will be placed throughout the Park which will invite the students to compare how much energy is being generated by various alternative energy sources. In addition, students will be able to compare how much energy the school is consuming vs. how much energy they are generating through play.
